Buckwheat is really just a silly kitten stuck in a big cat body. He promises to keep his adoptive family entertained!  At only 1 - 1.5 yrs old he has already had his share of bad luck. He was adopted last fall with another kitten and we thought he had found his forever family. Instead, he recently came back to the shelter as a stray and his family chose not to come and get him. It appears as though they felt he was too high maintenance. Really he is just a typical young active cat that likes to have fun! Buckwheat is very social and outgoing. He doesn't particularly like to be picked up and carried around much but does jump up in your lap and always wants to be with you, and where the action is. Buckwheat has previously lived with young kids, and does not seem to mind cat-friendly dogs. He currently lives with 7 other cats in his foster home, however his play style maybe too pushy for many cats. He may be able to live with another playful cat, with a slow introduction (he doesn't understand when to stop sometimes)   He cannot be declawed. Although he is kept strictly indoors in his foster home we would be willing to consider a home that wants an indoor/outdoorcat, provided he has a safe area. Like many young boys he sometimes thinks he is more grown up than he actually is!
Buckwheat's adoption fee of $25, which goes directly to the shelter, includes his vaccinations for the year, neutering and microchipping. He is Felv/FIV negative.   He has also been dewormed and treated with flea prevention. This boy is ready to go today! The shelter he is being fostered through also requires an application. Cookie has a sad story to tell, but at only about 10 months old, she still wants to find her happy ending. She was brought to the shelter with more than a dozen other cats when her owner was evicted. We don't really know what Cookie's life was like before she came into foster care, but she certainly has blossomed into a great cat while here. Cookie was terribly sick when she came into foster care, in addition to needing to have an umbilical hernia fixed(hence the shaved leg in some of the pictures), but she's a trooper- she's recovered nicely and is now 100% ready to go!  Cookie can be a little shy with new people and situations, but don't let that trick you into thinking she is not social. Once she knows you, she wants to be near you, and often follows you around making cute little noises. She loves to sleep with you (or on you), and watch TV with you. She loves to snuggle.  She lives with several other cats and kittens of all ages and gets along well with all of them. She prefers cats that are generally calm,or would also be great for someone looking for a young cat that would be happy as an only pet. Although Cookie has lived with a foster dog, she was very intimidated by her and would most likely be happy in a home without pooches.  Cookie is spayed, vaccinated, Felv/FIV negative, fully litter trained, and uses her scratching tower like a pro.  She would need to be kept as an indoor only pet and not be declawed.   Her adoption fee, which goes directly to the shelter, is only $25 currently! Male Grey Tabby Cat
found in New Britain Township on Friday October 7th in the evening.  Very sweet and trusting, he is a lap cat and loves affection.  If you are the owner or are interested in adopting him if his owner can't be found, please call (215)716-3627.

Buddy
is a purebred 8 year old male Australian Shepherd who is intelligent, athletic, energetic and loyal.  Buddy loves to play ball and Frisbee.  He is good indoors and can be left out in the house without worry.  Due to his herding instincts, Buddy should not be in a home with kids.  Contact Mark Malamed (610)909-8128.

Peter's family abandoned him, and he was living outside until his rescuer opened his basement to him.  (Unfortunately, she has no room for him.)  He's about 4-5 years old and is neutered, and likes dogs and other cats.  He is a very affectionate and loving laid back guy who is more interested in attention than food.  This sweet cat deserves to be indoors with a loving family to take care of him.  Contact Shawna at (267)772-0636 or petrescuegal@yahoo.com.

Dakota is a 1 year old female Australian Cattle Dog who is free to a good home.  She is a very affectionate girl who needs a lot of exercise.  Her favorite thing to play with is a ball.  Dakota will do best in a home with older children.  She is leash trained and is working hard on her social skills.  Call Sandra for more details at  (267)884-1943.

Penelope is a beautiful, intelligent, very bright young female cat who showed up at an apartment in Philadelphia.  The rescuers are fostering her, but need to find her a new home as they have cat allergies.  Penelope was spayed, has her shots, and has tested negative for FIV/FeLV.  She seems like she needs company and the outdoors.  Penelope is affectionate, sometimes shy, very agile, athletic, awake, aware highly energetic cat.  She is litter trained, scratches a post, likes creature comforts and learns easily, but she seems like she would not be happy being a strictly indoor cat.  Please call Kezia at (215)242-3887.

Aurora is a two-year-old White Bellied Caique Parrot who is a very loving and gentle pet whose owner is unfortunately allergic to her.  She eats seed blend and fresh fruit, especially her favorite, nectarines.  As soon as she's fed, Aurora has lots of energy to play.  She loves to be involved in anything going on around the house, by running around or riding on someone's shoulder.  Aurora loves new toys and play time.  She tries to sing along to music and climbs on her owners like they are a jungle gym.  Please contact Rob and Sarah Earl to visit Aurora at (215)412-7930 (home) or (267)688-1234 (mobile).
